The Gulf of Mexico Fishery Management Council will hold a public hearing Wednesday (Jan. 11) just outside of New Orleans during which anglers can comment on how greater amberjack will be managed off the Mississippi coast.

Implementation of Reef Fish Amendment 35 will be the topic the hearing, which begins at 6 p.m. at the Crowne Plaza New Orleans Airport at 2829 Williams Blvd. in Kenner, La.

Reef Fish Amendment 35 contains alternatives modifying the greater amberjack rebuilding plan, and considers changes to both recreational and commercial management measures, the Council said.

The amendment is scheduled for final action during the Council's meeting scheduled for Jan. 30-Feb. 3 in Mobile, Ala.
