The Mississippi Commission on Marine Resources certified a new record for bonnethead shark yesterday (May 15), the agency reported.

The 12-pound, 11-ounce shark was caught on April 2 by Saucier angler Michael Fournier Sr.

Fournier's catch beat out the old record, an 8-pound bonnethead caught in July 2009 by Ryan Dewayne Smith.
