100 specks, a taxi ride and a run in with the law!!!

One of the more interesting, fun, entertaining, an enjoyable days I have had on and off the water in a long time. Started out like any other, Capt Matt and I were waiting for our customers at Shiyou Caddy. Don Smith with Matt was on time, but was unable to get in touch with his fishing partner Joe Manneri. My crew, Uncle Jessie, Tug Boat Joe and Mitch were running late(first time ever). Matt and Don lit out while I waited, and hung out with Capt Kenny. Low and behold, Joe Manneri shows up(alarm clock malfunction) right infront of Uncle Jessie and the boys. Radioed Matt and Don who were just getting to the LA Marsh(digital antennas rock) and told them we would be ferrying Manneri to them in a few. Little bit of chop today from the wind, but we were able to make our delivery with Capt Matt and Don, a Shore Thing first for my boat. Got a big laugh out of the whole thing, just happy Manneri was able to fish.
Nothing today was the same as yesterday in regards to fishing/catching. None of our spots from yesterday produced, so both boats had to hunt. Was just about to turn our windy trout trip into a red fish trip when we saw a handful of birds working. They were somewhat diving over some shells in 4 feet of water. Started getting bit every cast, threw down the spike and went to work. We were bringing the trout over the side four at a time with the popping corks. Shrimp started jumping and more birds showed up with the fast moving tide. Radioed Matt and he soon joined us in the fun. While were slinging the trout in left and right, the LDWF rolled up. Threw the guys a rope an asked if we could keep fishing. I told him this was the only bite we had found all day and we really wanted to keep fishing. They were very nice, said it was ok, and the guys took turns showing their LA Charter Passes. They checked us for the usual PFD's and fire exstinguishers also. All the while fish were flying over the side, the fish never moved. The agents then moved around the school of trout and checked Matts crew. Very curtious agents, I must say, so thanks for the kindness LDWF. Got our 100 keeper trout and went looking for reds. Only found 1 rat before heading in due to melting ice. Texted Capt Kenny on the ride back across. Turns out he and Capt Kyle were doing a little Good Dock Keeping. Grass was cut, the new picnic table was installed, and the bait tank was cleaned. The boys also had deer sausage sandwiches ready and waiting. Just about a perfect end to a darn near perfect day with my good buddies Uncle Jessie, Tug Boat Joe and Mitch. Thank Yous out to everyone.
