Father/Son Trout and Redfish!
Great day of 'catching' with Shelly Melancon and his two sons, Ryan's and Andrew! We started off with speckled trout and when the bite slowed down jumped all over the big reds! The wind was a little elevated and the Gulf was a little choppy, but we made the ride and caught 32 nice speckled trout on tandem-rigged Matrix Shad! Then it was off to battle some big redfish! No problems there as our first cast had the drag peeling off of the Shimano Tekota 600's in just a few minutes! Whole blue crab on bottom is the ticket for these big redfish! Guys, take a child out fishing if you get the opportunity! Life is too short to not enjoy the great outdoors with the ones we care about! Great day on the water and another memorable trip for the books! Good luck fishing! rnrnCapt. Travis Lovellrn985.856.8167rnwww.reelingoodcharters.com

Dularge Trout Slam and a Few Reds for Lagniappe!
What a fun, slick calm morning of catching with Chris Childers and crew! We started off smashing the speckled trout as they were chasing jumbo shrimp out of the water and clobbering whatever you threw at them! We had a solid run on them catching singles and doubles and then the bite just shut down on us! We made several moves only picking up a few more to make 91, so we then decided to chase redfish in the marsh! Those bronzebacks were hungry as we picked up 5 of them before heading in! Thanks Chris and Jess for your friendship and continued business! Definitely a fun trip and memorable time! Good luck fishing!rnrnCapt. Travis Lovellrn985.856.8167rnwww.reelingoodcharters.com

2016 Houma Oilman's Fishing Fun!
Another Houma Oilman's has come and gone and I must say it was another fun two days for the books! PSC and crew joined me for two days of bull red slaying in search for a redfish to make the board and our mission was accomplished! rnrnDay 1 was right on target. We got to our first stop and it was FISH ON! Plenty of redfish in the 20-25 pound range, but none worthy of being weighed in. All in all a really fun day of catching a bunch of big fish! Whole crab on bottom is all you need! rnrnDay 2 started a little behind schedule, but worked out perfectly as it ended with a BANG! We left the dock about 08:00am and our first stop found the bull reds piled up! The Lowrance HDS12 screen lit up marking fish for several hours as we caught and released bull reds and black drum while in search of a fish worthy of being weighed in for the tournament! Lots of bull reds in the 20-25 pound range, but we found a worthy fish at our last stop! The rod bent over, drag began peeling off of the reel, and my crew jumped all over it! Justin Amos landed the 31.5 pound redfish which placed 9th out of the 10 paying slots! Congrats Justin! Thanks guys for a day filled with laughter and thanks to J.P. Solis and PSC for your continued business!rnrnCapt. Travis Lovellrn985.856.8167rnwww.reelingoodcharters.com

Thursday Morning Redfish Run!
Darryl Soignet and crew came down from Baton Rouge for some 'catching' and it was definitely a successful trip! With the winds being higher than we wanted them to be, we decided to stay inshore and chase redfish versus speckled trout! We struck gold! Starting off with some big bulls to break the ice, we found them stacked up and ready to give a good fight! The guys couldn't believe how hard these big bulls fight! Whole crab, Carolina-rigged on bottom did the damage! 2-3 oz. egg sinkers is usually enough to get it down to the bottom! At 9:30am, we decided to hit the marsh for a few slot reds, and picked up a dozen! Fishing points in the marsh with fresh caught bait shrimp under a popping cork was all you needed! Great day, great people, and happy customers! It just doesn't get any better than that! Good luck fishing! rnrnCapt. Travis Lovellrnrn985.856.8167rnrnwww.reelingoodcharters.com

Week In Review from Dularge!
Just getting a moment to catch up on things, but it was a windy week in terms of fishing in Dularge this past week. That didn't stop our customers from catching fish, but did limit us to staying inshore! On Monday and Tuesday I helped Capt. Rob Dupont with a big group from Tennessee and we slayed the reds! We jumped on the bull reds first to break the ice and then switched over to slot reds! Whole blue crab on bottom in the passes or shrimp under a popping cork in the marsh did the job! rnWednesday morning I had Paul's Agency down with two boats and it was more of the same. The bull reds were in a feeding frenzy as we found them piled up and hungry! After catching our limit of them in the passes, we jumped into the marsh and caught a mixed box of slot reds, black drum, speckled trout, and flounder! Many laughs and memories made on this trip! Huge thanks to Capt. Gerald Ellender for running the second boat and showing those guys a South Louisiana good time! rnrnGuys - the fishing is ON! Don't let the wind keep you in as there's lots of fish in the interior marsh system to be caught when the winds don't cooperate! Grab yourself a few dozen crabs or couple pounds of fresh bait shrimp and get to catching! rnrnGood luck fishing! rnrnCapt. Travis Lovellrnwww.reelingoodcharters.comrn985.856.8167

Two Days of Insane Trout Action for the Ohio Boys!
Day 2 with Bobby Toups and the Ohio crew was a fast and furious morning! Our first stop was where we had caught them the day before, but it only gave up 6 fish! We made a short move to a rig/wellhead and it was all she wrote! It was fish on from start to finish! Singles, doubles, speckled trout, redfish, and SOLID action! The size of the fish on the trip decreased a little from the previous day's trip, but we were still able to put 100 speckled trout in the 12-16 inch range in the cooler by 9:45am! When your crew needs an early day back in to catch flights back to Ohio, it's always nice when the fish cooperate early! Matrix Shad soft plastics single or tandem-rigged was all you needed! What a fun-filled two days of 'catching' for these guys! Big thanks to Capt. Josh Ellender for running the second boat of this crew as they caught 100 beautiful South Louisiana speckled trout! 400 speckled trout caught and kept in two days between the two boats! This should make for one hell of a fish fry! Give me a call to get in on some 'catching' action! We've got guides who are on fish daily and can accommodate both small and/or large groups plus some of the best lodging available on the bayou! Don't be late, book your date! Good luck fishing! rnrnCapt. Travis Lovellrnrnwww.reelingoodcharters.comrnrn985.856.8167

South Louisiana Trout Slam for Ohio Crew!
Day 1 with Bobby Toups and crew was just about as good as it gets! Breezy conditions, but the trout didn't seem to mind at all! Had quite a few hammers hit the deck on this trip as most of fish were in the 16-21 inch range! Fishing protected sides of the barrier islands has been the ticket to clean water and fishable conditions! Live shrimp, and Matrix Shad soft plastics in various colors have been all the ammunition needed to load the boat! This Ohio crew had a blast catching and enjoying what South Louisiana has to offer! Don't let the wind keep you in! Get out and do some catching! Thanks to Bobby Toups for your friendship and continued business. Huge thanks to Capt. Josh Ellender for showing the second half of this crew a great time catching their limit as well! The trout fishing has exploded in South Lousiana! Good luck fishing! rnrnCapt. Dularge Trout Phenomenon on Day 2!
Day 2 threw us for a loop at first light! Unexpected high winds and 2-3' seas made heading South a little challenging, but it paid off in big numbers! We found dirty water at our first stop, but the shrimp were still skipping across the water in hopes to elude the hungry speckled trout! What a crummy life to be a shrimp! We dropped the Power Pole in the 2310 Ranger and pounced 21 speckled trout pretty quickly and then nothing! With 2' seas rocking us around, the winds stopped and calmed the seas while a huge line of emerald green water moved in! It was 'catching' time! We made a short move as I saw a flock of birds diving like crazy over a reef and it was all she wrote! Fish on, every cast, and mostly all in the 16-21' range. We had 10 fish over 2.5 lbs. they were eating up like piranhas! We caught the remaining 54 fish for our 75 fish limit in short order as the bite never turned off! Matrix Shad in any color you threw at them did the damage! I called Capt. Josh Ellender over and although they had been catching at another location, they got in on the tail end of the action as well! What a fun day to be on the water! Dallas Miller had never caught a bull red, so it was time to make a special memory for him! We hit the honey hole and had one on with the first cast! 150 trout and a limit of bull reds for this crew! HUGE thanks to Dallas Miller, and Steve Slusher for your friendship and continued business! Thanks to Capt. Josh Ellender for running the second boat and for showing this crew a blast on a bow fishing trip as well! rnrnJust got word from Capt. Chris Venable and Capt. Kevin Labat that they smashed the trout this morning with Dan Wallace and crew and Bryan Fontenot and crew! Making memories one fish at a time! Thanks captains for helping out today and showing my customers a GREAT TIME as I enjoy my daughters dance recital and some much needed time with my family! rnrnOur fishing has exploded and we've got the best guides, lodging, and options for your saltwater fishing experience! Give us a call to get your trip on the books as there's only better fishing to come! rnrnCapt. Travis Lovellrnrnwww.reelingoodcharters.comrnrn985.856.8167

Two Days of Trout!
Dallas Miller of Dunkin Lewis set these last two days of fishing up months ago and it was definitely a SUCESS! Steve Slusher and John Dailles jumped on board with me! We started our morning off working the birds in the lakes and picking through a lot of undersized fish! The winds were up a little and just about mid-morning the winds decided to lay down! It was a no brainier...HEAD SOUTH! This move was a stellar one as we found a hot bite on single-rigged Mattix Shad in Ultra Violet color. The fish wanted one twitch and would slam it on the fall! We picked up 35 really nice trout and the bite died down! Making one short move we found shrimp skipping the water! The trout smashing the surface and your bait as soon as it would hit the water! We caught 23 more fish and the switch turned off again! 58 fish and then bull red time always makes customers smile! Thanks to Capt. Josh Ellender for running the second boat of this crew as they had 70 trout to add to the mix! After this trip, the crew decided to go bow fishing and Capt. Josh and I loaded up and showed these guys a great time! Late night, but what a fun time! Our fishing is insane right now, so give us a call to get in on the action! Good luck fishing! rnrnCapt. Wednesday Mornong Trout and Reds
Always a pleasure fishing with Bobby Toups and crew! We started out in the lakes only to find a few keepers and a lot of undersized fish! We made a move to the cost and although a bit breezy found a slow, but steady bite. Trout were feeding on shrimp and busting the surface in clean and dirty water! With it being windy a few days prior,?i wasn't expecting a slam, but you have to go to know! Once putting a few fish in the box, We decided to go hit a few bull reds for some drag peeling fun! We finished the day with 19 trout and 3 bull reds. We kept two of the bulls and released the third for another day! Thanks Bobby and Ed for your continued business and friendship! See you guys again next week!rnrnCapt. Travis Lovellrnwww.reelingoodcharters.comrn985.856.8167

Making Memories One Fish at a Time in Dularge!
Marion Collier had a BIG TIME in Dularge this week doing exactly what he asked for...fighting BULL REDS! The bite started a little slower than normal, but was expected considering we didn't catch fish until 9:30am Friday morning! It was like clockwork! When the time got closer, the bites got hot! With 25-30+ mph winds, we had one thing in mind...catch about 6-8 fish, and then head in before the storm hit! Our plan worked out perfectly! rnrnA little about my customer and friend...Until last spring, this 74 year old gentleman had never fished in saltwater before and I must say that he's hooked for life! What a privilege it has been to introduce him to a new style of fishing! You can't put a price on what his friendship means to me! With health conditions such as multiple non-cancerous brain tumors and surgeries, paralyzation to his face, loss of hearing on his left side, and loss of his equilibrium...this fine gentleman still gives life and friendship 150%! A pastor, an author of a great book entitled 'A Matter of Grace,' a previous Louisiana State Turkey Calling Champion by mouth, a competitive shooter in Black Powder Cartridge Silhouette, BR-50, multiple rim fire competitions, skeet shooting competitions, etc! What a full rich life! Thank you, thank you, thank you for three days of solid catching, solid memories, and a solid forever friendship! All of our bull reds were caught using whole crab on bottom fishing ledges in 10-18' depths. rnrnThis isn't a post to entice someone to book a fishing trip, but merely to say this...Life is short...live your life to the fullest, no matter how young or old you may be! Seize the day, seize the moment, and smile every single chance you get!rnrnCapt. Travis Lovellrnrnwww.reelingoodcharters.comrnrn985.856.8167

Full of Bulls in Dularge!
Day 2 with Marion Collier ended just as Day 1 did...big smiles, big memories, and of course BIG FISH! We hit a flock of birds as we were cutting across the lake and picked up 9 lagniappe speckled trout. Our first stop in the holes we found the bite slow, but steady! We made one short move and it was FISH CITY! We had bull reds coming in two at a time! When there's two lines out, it leaves me no choice but to jump in on the fun as well! What an honor to fish with such a fine gentleman as Marion! The memories, jokes, laughs, and wisdom shared on the boat over the past few days is priceless and I thank God for his friendship! They don't make them like this guy anymore! Thanks for a great day on the water and another memorable trip for the books! All bull reds were caught using whole crabs on bottom in holes ranging from 8-20' in depth! Don't let the wind keep you in! Get out and do some catching! rnrnCapt. Sacrificed the BITE for the FIGHT in Dularge!
Day 1 with Marion Collier was as good as it gets! Marion fished with me last spring and caught his first ever redfish in 73 years of life, and on this trip he caught his first ever speckled trout! Marion specifically asked for bull reds and a big fight, so we didn't even worry about fishing for trout first thing! We hit the bull reds wide open as we caught 12-15 of them in the 24-32 lb. range. Once we both had sore wrist from the fight of these bruisers, we switched over to the BITE and found the trout piled up! They were feeding heavily on shrimp and we whacked them good! 50 beautiful trout, 12-15 bull reds, and a few black drum as lagniappe made for one heck of a trip, and one heck of a memory! Don't let the wind, keep you in! Get out and do some catching! Stayed tuned for Day 2! Good luck! rnrnCapt. Travis Lovellrnwww.reelingoodcharters.comrn985.856.8167

Monday Morning Madness!
Roy Sternfels and crew joined me Monday morning in search of some yellow-mouths and our first stop had fish coming over the side of the boat in all directions! We put 15 in the box really quick and then the bite dried up! With southeast winds in the 10-15mph range, we stayed protected and found some really pretty water! Fishing several reefs in the 3-4' depth, we began picking away at the fish again! Matrix Shad on a 1/4 oz. jig head either tight-lined or under a cork was what they wanted. Mid-morning we made a move back to our first original stop and it FISH ON! Beautiful speckled trout in the 16-20 inch range and they were hungry! We figured out that they were just circling our boat, so as you'd follow them, they'd continue to bite! We finished the day with 77 beautiful trout and left them biting for a nearby boater to catch. It's such a good feeling inside to ask a boater not catching as many fish to come closer and fish where we were fishing, and then pull of watching them catch fish! We had a phenomenal morning of catching and there was no reason to have another boat just watch us catching! While I'm sure we could have stayed an caught 23 more for our limit, it was a better experience to share the good bite we were on and let everyone enjoy! Glad they got in on the action! Incredible trout action the last few days! Good luck fishing!rnrnCapt. Travis Lovellrnwww.reelingoodcharters.comrn985.856.8167

Trout Extravaganza in Dularge!
London versus Louisiana! Phe McMahon of Paul's Agency brought in a crew that were ready to jump all over the fish and that's just what they did! Due to some flight delays, we left the dock at 8:15am, wet lines at 9:00am, and it was all over by 10:30am! 250 beautiful speckled trout with a handful of black drum, redfish, and sheepshead to add as lagniappe. Fast and furious action is all I can say! One stop shop as we didn't have to search far for these fish! The trout bite is in full swing as the summer migration is under way for these fish to spawn! All of our fish were caught on single-rigged Matrix in Shrimp Creole color fishing reefs in 3-4' of water. Plenty of fish in the 16-20 inch range! Thanks to Capt. Josh Ellender for running the second boat of this crew as they whacked the fish too! These London guys are hooked! It looks to be a great start to the trout bite! Give me a call to book your meat haul!rnrnCapt. Travis Lovellrnrnwww.reelingoodcharters.comrnrn985.856.8167
