His total weight for that tournament was 82 pounds 3 ounces which was good enough for $25,000.

Creature baits that resemble invertebrates are good alternatives for the voracious appetites of marsh bass.

    Best baits for marsh bass

Marsh bass feed heavily on invertebrates. So anglers should fish trenasses that drain marsh ponds, small bayous that drain into large bayous right at the mouth, pipelines and ditches with water flowing to take advantage of prime ambush areas.

Give your plastics a nose job

For a long time, one of Bassmaster Elite Series pro Aaron Martens’ secret weapons was a Scrounger. A Scrounger is a jighead with an oblong bill that served two purposes; a weedguard and an action enhancer.

Sometimes a few tweaks are needed to increase your hookup ratio on swimbaits. The top bait is a factory Live Target Mullet Swimbait. The bottom one has the dorsal fin removed to expose the hook, and a treble on the bottom.

Land more fish with a stinger hook

Fishing a swimbait is one of the more productive methods of landing trout, redfish and bass because of their realistic appearance and swimming action.  However, because form sometimes comes before function, a few tweaks are needed to increase your hookup ratio.
