    Mosley takes second at Lake St. Clair

    Collinsville angler Brock Mosley has been on a roll on the BASS Elite Series Tour lately. The talented angler finished second to arguably the greatest tournament bass angler of all time, Kevin Van Dam, at the St. Lawrence River three weeks ago by consistently catching lunker smallmouths each day. His total weight for that tournament was 82 pounds 3 ounces which was good enough for $25,000.

    The Mississippi Deep Sea Fishing Rodeo is always a popular attraction along the state’s Gulf Coast, offering much to do for visitors to the 70-year-old event.

    Mississippi Deep Sea Fishing Rodeo turns 70

    The largest fishing event in the state, participation-wise, is the Mississippi Deep Sea Fishing Rodeo, which will be held for the 70th time June 30-July 4 at the Gulfport Harbor.

    Scott Cothran of Mt. Pleasant, S.C., with the state record 242-pound, 8.64-ounce swordfish during the recent Mississippi Gulf Coast Billfish Classic in Biloxi. He earned a whopping $325,000 for the catch in the June 8-9 event.

    Brandon Card of Knoxville, Tenn., has the lead after the first day of the Bassmaster Elite tournament at  Barnett Reservoir, bringing 22 pounds, 14 ounces to the scales on Thursday.
