Neshoba Lake trivia

Sixteen-year-old Josh Alford with a 13-pound beauty pulled from Neshoba Lake.

• Lake record — 14.3 pounds

• 2012 Spring Break — 27 lunker bass over 8 pounds were caught and weighed in, with most being released.

• Size — Neshoba County Lake is a 138-acre lake located in Neshoba County seven miles southeast of Philadelphia on Highway 486.

• Topography — The lake is shallow, averaging 5 1/2 feet with channels cut through the main lake. Some of these channels run to the upper end. Spawning bass can be caught from mere inches to 2 feet deep almost anywhere in the lake.

• Peak of spawn — Typically the second week of March. Last year, the peak was in February due to warmer weather and water temperatures.

• Regulations — 10 per day with nine of those being less than 16 inches. Any bass caught between 16 and 20 inches must be released immediately, and only one over 20″ may be kept.
