Boater rescued after vessel collides with Bay St. Louis Bridge

Boater taken to Oschner hospital in New Orleans, Mississippi Department of Marine Resources says.

A 21-foot boat struck the Bay St. Louis Bridge on Friday (Oct. 19), and the sole person aboard the vessel was airlifted to a New Orleans hospital, the Mississippi Department of Marine Resources reported.

The MDMR received the call about the collision at 2:08 p.m. on Friday.The passenger of the boat was rescued by another boater and taken to the Washington Street Pier, and was then transported to Ochsner hospital in New Orleans with unknown injuries, the agency said.

The passenger requested to be taken to the hospital, the MDMR said.

The MDMR’s Marine Patrol is investigating the accident.
