Bob M. Dearing Natchez State Park Lake reopens May 6

The Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks (MDWFP) is excited to announce that Bob M. Dearing Natchez State Park Lake will reopen for fishing and boating on Monday, May 6 at 6:00 a.m.

Following a period of closure in 2023 for essential improvement projects, the lake has undergone significant enhancements to provide visitors with an improved outdoor experience.

During the temporary closure, MDWFP focused on improving access and amenities for park-goers. Key improvements include the replacement of two boat ramp courtesy piers, the addition of three new courtesy piers at cabins, and the redecking of fishing piers.

In addition to these upgrades, MDWFP also made habitat enhancements by adding gravel spawning beds, stake beds, and brush piles in popular bank fishing areas that will benefit both fish and anglers.

A state park permit and a valid Mississippi fishing license are required unless exempt under state law.

“We are excited to welcome visitors back to Bob M. Dearing Natchez State Park Lake,” said Jerry Brown, Fisheries Director at MDWFP. “These improvements reflect our commitment to providing exceptional outdoor recreational opportunities while conserving our natural resources.”
