Bulls Bay 230 CC

The Bulls Bay 2300 CC is a wonderful, no-frills center console that will fit a lot of anglers’ budgets.

Carolina Composites of Walterboro, S.C., make no bones about its Bulls Bay line. Several classic hull designs that have been popular for a while have been located, retooled and modernized to produce a line of affordable boats with the features needed for comfortable and successful fishing. The 230 Center Console is the latest addition to the line and continues the tradition well.

The 2300 CC features classic lines, with great durability and fishability in a smaller center console that allows for easy trailering. While the features include a leaning post, open bow with excellent storage, 103 gallons of fuel, a big fish/storage box and a 35-gallon baitwell in the transom, the 2300 CC is a true, no-frills, offshore fishing machine. It was built to fill a niche that allows fishermen and families who want to spend time on the water an excellent quality boat at a real value price.

The 2300 CC offers a surprisingly spacious fishing layout. There is a lot of room to move around when fishing, plus deck and bow boxes to stow gear and fish. Carrying bait isn’t an issue, either, with the 35-gallon baitwell built in the center of the transom. Its interior is even gel-coated blue to help calm bait so it’s at its best when it’s time to attract fish. This positioning for the livewell also puts bait where they ride the smoothest on the trip to the fishing grounds and right where you want it once you begin fishing.

Creature comforts aren’t overlooked. The leaning post and recessed trim tabs work together to calm the waves when an afternoon breeze pops up. In addition to the leaning post, there is also seating for three across the transom and one at the front of the console. A factory T-top is optional but is a good choice for sun protection, plus, it can be fitted with curtains when spray blows or rain tries to interrupt fishing.

The 2300 CC comes with all the required equipment to be a serious fishing machine at a reasonable price. There are options available to improve creature comfort and add a few frills, but the 2300 CC rolls out the door surprisingly well-outfitted. This is a boat that should fit the family budget and get aspiring fishermen introduced to the sport while still having the right fishing features to satisfy the old salts, too.
