Chataginer to retire May 31

Marine Patrol Chief Walter “Tiny” Chataginer will be retiring Friday (May 31) after more than 34 years of law enforcement service to the State of Mississippi.Chief Chataginer began his career with the Biloxi Police Department in September 1979. He joined the Bureau of Marine Resources (BMR) under the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks (MDWFP) in 1988. The BMR became a state agency — the MDMR — in 1994, and its marine law enforcement division was transferred to MDMR in 1999, becoming the present-day Marine Patrol.

“I am grateful to Chief Chataginer for his dedicated service to the people of South Mississippi throughout his law enforcement career,” said MDMR Executive Director Jamie Miller. “He has been a valuable asset to the DMR for many years and has been tremendously helpful to me during the short time I’ve been here. I wish him the best in his retirement.”
