Fish identification program for budding anglers

The Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Park’s Visitor Education Center (VEC) adjacent to Enid Lake will host a Kid’s Fish Identification Program on Saturday, April 14 at 2 p.m. Young anglers can learn how to identify the many different species of fish found in Enid Lake and other lakes and ponds across the state.

Josh Howell, a Conservation Associate Fisheries Biologist from the MDWFP Fisheries Bureau, will present the program. Howell works in the northwest area of Mississippi including the four reservoirs operated by the US Army Corps of Engineers.

The program is free with price of admission. Admission is $2.50 for adults ages 18-59, and just $2 for youth ages 3-17 and adults over the age of 60. If you have any questions please call the VEC at (662) 563-8068.

The VEC is part of the Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks and is located at Exit 233 east off I-55.
