Correction: Early primitive weapons dates incorrect in November issue

Hunting season dates include typo on page 9 of November issue of Mississippi Sportsman

The list of 2013-14 deer season dates on page 9 of the November issue of Mississippi Sportsman included incorrect dates for the early primitive weapons season.

The correct dates are Nov. 11-22 for the Hill and Delta zones, with no listed November primitive weapon dates in the Southeast Zone.

We regret the error.

The full list of deer-hunting seasons is:

• Archery — Open through Jan. 31 in Hill and Delta Zones, and through Feb. 15 in Southeast Zone (legal bucks only Feb. 1-15).

• Youth gun — Opens Nov. 9 statewide and closes Jan. 31 in Hill and Delta Zones, and Feb. 15 in Southeast Zone.

• Early primitive weapon, antlerless deer only: Hill and Delta Zones only, Nov. 11-22.

• Gun, with dogs — Nov. 23-Dec. 1 statewide.

• Primitive weapon — Dec. 2-15 statewide.

• Gun, without dogs (still season) — Dec. 16-23 statewide.

• Gun, with dogs — Dec. 24-Jan. 22 statewide.

• Primitive weapon — Jan. 23-Jan. 31 in Hill and Delta Zones; Jan. 23-Feb. 15 in Southeast Zone (legal bucks only Feb. 1-15).
