Ticks are no joke

We’ve all shown up at the camp and just hit the woods to slip around and bag a squirrel or two without a thought to dangers posed by ticks.

Stringer hunter Jeffrey Wood said that is a big mistake — one that has cost him dearly.

“I got (Lyme) disease in the mountains of Tennessee a few years ago while training dogs,” Wood said. “Now it has turned into rheumatoid arthritis, and I have to give myself a shot of Humira every two weeks and take a couple of pain pills daily.

“That’s why I use Sawyer (insect repellent) now.

I would like you to mention something about Lyme disease. I got this in the mountains of Tennessee  a few years ago while training dogs. Now it has turned into rheumatoid arthritis, and I have to give myself a shot of Humira every 2 weeks and take a couple of pain pills daily. That’s why I use sawyer spray now.”

And the effects of the disease bring about more than discomfort.

“It’s been hell, and it’s slowed me way down in my hunting and daily activities,” Wood said. “I sure don’t want anyone else to go through what I have been through with this stuff.”
