Im looking to lease 16th section land for hunting, but I have some questions before I try to lease it. If anyone can help out I'd really appreciate it.

    1. after you lease the property how are you sure you can get it the following year?

    2. are you allowed to plant food plots? And if you are do they have any type of restrictions on building shooting houses

    thanks

The only guarantee you have is how deep are your pockets. Someone else can bid on your property and then you get a chance to match their bid or let them have it. Good luck, all 16th section land is way overpriced but hey nobody ever said having money meant you were smart.

Most of the time it's a 5 year lease, you have to pay all property tax's. At the end you 5 year term it will be up for bid. If you want to keep it you have to option to match the highest bid. You can't cut tree's but if there are openings you can plant food plots.

web site for more info. http://www.sos.ms.gov/public_lands_16th_section_lands.aspx

    Hope this helps.
