Winter drawdown at Wall Doxey State Park

A winter drawdown will be conducted at Wall Doxey State Park’s Spring Lake, lowering the water level approximately 4 feet from December through February. The extended boat ramp should be accessible during this time.

Aquatic vegetation decreased in 2021 because of last season’s drawdown and herbicide applications by the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks (MDWFP). However, aquatic vegetation grows year-round in this spring-fed lake, and annual winter drawdowns are planned until it is better controlled.

Fishing will remain open during the drawdown and water levels should return to normal by March. For more information regarding hunting or fishing in Mississippi, visit www.mdwfp.com or call (601) 432-2400.
