Snapper season to end Friday

Mississippi’s recreational fishing season for red snapper in the Gulf of Mexico will end at 11:59 p.m. on Friday (Aug. 17), which, as expected, means fishermen will reach the annual quota — 135,149 pounds — prior to the scheduled season closure of Sept. 3.

Head to the Tombigbee River for August bass

I like to fish rivers for bass in August, because they always have some current moving, and fish like that. The Tombigbee River that divides Alabama and Mississippi is one of my favorite rivers for August bassing. I’ll start fishing at the Columbus pool and also fish the Aliceville pool.
