Making the trip to Maynor Creek

Full camper hook-ups, including water, power and sewer are available for camping anglers.

Location — Maynor Creek Water Park is located six miles west of Waynesboro off Highway 84. The street address is 1351 Reservoir Road, Waynesboro, Miss. GPS: N31 39.348 W88 43.329

Park facilities — Maynor Creek has a full range of accommodations, from full service RV hook ups to large and small cabins complete with full-serve kitchens. Pat Harrison Waterway District even offers a 20 percent discount on its cabin rentals during the winter season.

“We’ve got 69 campsites with water, sewer, and electricity on all but seven of the camper sites, and we have 50 amp electrical service,” manager Dwight Shepard said. “There are three comfort stations in the campground itself, if you happen to get on a site without sewer.

“We’ve got nine cabins. Two cabins are one bedroom, three cabins have two bedrooms, and four of them have three bedrooms.”

Maynor Creek offers both inland and waterfront RV camping sites with water, sewer, and power provided. Camping Rates for reserved inland sites are $22 per night, waterfront is $24 per night. For campsite reservations, call 601-735-4365. All camping sites must be reserved ahead of time.

Cabins are also available for rent based on the following schedule: A-Frame Cabins: $105 per night. Bungalows: $85 per night. Millenniums: $125 per night.

Pat Harrison Waterway District will offer 20 percent off all cabins at all parks for the offseason, Dec. 1-Feb. 28. For cabin reservations, call 800-748-9403.

Groceries and supplies — While Waynesboro is a just a short 10-minute ride from Maynor Creek, visitors needing supplies have a closer option just outside the gate of the park at Maynor Creek Grocery. New owner Dottie Waites has remodeled the store and provides all the necessities for the live bait angler including minnows, crickets, and worms. She also carries a good supply of fishing tackle and camping gear.

The store also offers plenty of hot food for when you come off the water. Fresh pizza, po-boys, hamburgers and a good supply of camping oriented grocery items are all available. Additional amenities include gasoline, propane and ice so anglers can cook their catch back at the campsite, refill the tank on the boat and truck, or pack up a bunch of fresh caught fish fillets for the trip back home.

Maynor Creek Grocery is located at 1766 Reservoir Rd. Hours of operation are Monday to Saturday 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Phone 601-735-1002.
