A case for harvest reporting

Deer are often attracted to the rich vegetation on old gardens and home sites, especially does that are still legal during the archery season on public land.

A change in deer limits being made based on email survey results is the strongest argument ever that it’s time for Mississippi to have an accurate tagging and/or harvest reporting system.

It works in other states where one is in place; it can work in Mississippi as well.

Bag limits and regulations decisions could then be based on sound biological data, established trends and field studies, as they should be.
