The Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks (MDWFP) would like to inform the public that during the Feb. 12, 2025 meeting of the Commission on Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks it was voted the 2024–2025 Small Game seasons ending on a Friday are extended through thirty (30) minutes after sunset on the first following Sunday. This two-day extension is for this year only and applies as follows:
Small Game includes: Squirrel, Rabbit, Opossum, Raccoon, and Bobcat. This extension shall apply to private lands only and concludes on Sunday, March 2, 2025.
Through MISS. CODE ANN. §49-7-31, when the open season ends on a Friday, the commission shall have the authority to extend the season until thirty (30) minutes after sunset on the following Sunday.
