Pace weighs only one fish, makes final day

Cliff Pace is probably out of contention for the 2010 Bassmaster Classic title, but he made it to the thrid and final day of competition to better his final ranking and his paycheck.

Petal’s Cliff Pace had a very tough day during the second day of competition for the Bassmaster Classic, weighing only a single fish to add 2 pounds, 6 ounces to his two-day stringer. But that 18-pounds, 9 ounces was still enough to move him into the final day.

“I couldn’t figure it out,” Pace said of his day. “I just couldn’t put my hand on it. I caught just enough fish to keep me doing what I was doing.”

He’s unlikely to win, however, since just less than 14 pounds would be needed to catch current leader Jeff Kriet.

“If we get some weather move in here, I think I can do what I did yesterday,” Pace said.
