Hammer Rods, from Mississippi

Dustin Jones of Brandon loves the versatility of the Mississippi-based Hammer Rods, and said there’s a model to fit all needs.

A Mississippi company based in Guntown is specializing in bass fishing rods that are made one at a time with a touch only a mother could give.

That’s right: Hammer Rods are individually wrapped by women who live in and around Harrison, Ark. They wrap graphite rods in their spare time.

“One aspect of the rod-building process that stands Hammer apart is that each rod is hand wrapped in the homes of women who vary from stay-at-home moms, moms of special-needs children or women that offer in-home care to elderly adults in an effort to earn extra income for their family,” said company owner Shane Cox, who added that the unique program allows Hammer to meet its goal of providing quality rods at a fair price.

The company’s rods all feature 100 percent graphite hand-rolled blanks with a blend of power, sensitivity and performance to meet all fishing demands. They also have Fuji micro guides, Fuji graphite blank-exposed reel seats, and Winn split grip handles.

They come with a limited lifetime warranty.

One angler who became a quick fan was Brandon’s Dustin Jones.

“You really have to fish with one to truly understand how lightweight, sensitive and strong they are,” Jones said. “Made in America and family owned means a lot to me. Whether I’m throwing a shaky head on a 7-foot medium; a 10XD on a 7-foot, 11-inch medium heavy cranking or punching a grass mat with a 7-foot, 6-inch double extra heavy, I can always depend on Hammer Rods having the perfect rod for any of my needs.”
