Improved clinch knot easy to tie, dependable if done properly
The improved clinch is one of the first knots I learned. While I almost never use it today, it’s an easy way to form a connection between your line and lure.
The key is to utilize the “improved” portion of the knot, which separates it from its cousin the clinch knot (that I think using is the easiest way to guarantee you’ll loose fish). So don’t shortcut the knot by failing to pass the tag end through the two loops that are formed.
And be sure the line twists you form as part of knot’s body don’t overlap: If they do, the chances of breaking off skyrocket.
