Bosarge gets second saltwater record

Speckled hind hooked in November

Brandon Bosarge of Gautier now has his named on two species in the list of Mississippi’s saltwater fishing records.

The Commission on Marine Resources, the state agency that keeps track of the offshore records, certified Bosarge’s 12-pound, 12.16-ounce speckled hind, a member of the grouper family.

Bosarge caught the fish Nov. 21, blasting the previous record of 5 pounds, 8.8 ounces set just two months earlier.

Bosarge also has the record for queen triggerfish, with a 7-pound, 6.4-ounce fish caught in 2007.
