Deer, early teal lottery applications accepted beginning Aug. 1

Lottery applications for Missiissippi WMA deer and waterfowl hunts will be accepted beginning Aug. 1.

On Aug. 1st, the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks will begin taking applications for early season teal and deer hunting on wildlife management areas.

Applicants must apply online at www.mdwfp.com before Sept. 1st.

There will be a charge of $5 for each permit application, with proceeds contributing to managing WMA lands.

Permitted early season teal hunts will be available at Howard Miller and Muscadine WMAs.

Permitted deer hunts will be available at Black Prairie, Charles Ray Nix, Hell Creek, Mahannah, Sardis Waterfowl, Sky Lake, Twin Oaks, Trim Cane and Yockanookany WMAs, along with Natchez State Park.

Applicants for the Sardis Waterfowl WMA deer hunts must be 15 years of age or younger.

To be eligible for deer hunts at Trim Cane WMA, applicants must have a physical condition that makes them fully dependent on a wheelchair for mobility.
