Voting has begun in the Nikon Big Buck and Trail Cam contests in which MississippiSportsman.com users name the monthly winners.

Four photos are in the each contests’ voting round, which continues until Thursday morning (Nov. 3).

The contests are open to all registered users of MississippiSportsman.com, with monthly winners earning a Sportsman prize package including a free one-year subscription to Mississippi Sportsman magazine and a $25 gift coupon to the online Sportsman Store.

All entrants in the Nikon Big Buck Contest also will be eligible for a random drawing for a set of Nikon Monarch ATB 10×42 binoculars.

This month’s Nikon Big Buck Contest finalists, chosen by site administrators, include user “taylor 4h”.

taylor 4h entered a photo showing a great 8-point she killed on her very first hunt. The youngster shared the youth hunt with her grandfather.

“I was starting to lose hope in getting a nice buck, (b)ut then my grandfather turned my chair around and told me to take a shot at the first deer in the bunch,” taylor 4h wrote. “I knew he had horns, but really had no idea how large he was.”

“I didn’t really have time to think about it; just was worried about getting that perfect shot. Then I saw him laying in some brush. Holy cow, I though it was a dream.”

Also in the monthly voting session is Joseph Cox, who posted a photo of a really fine buck his brother killed on Oct. 5.

User “Max Lovertich” also made the monthly voting session with a photo of a 135-inch 8-point he arrowed in Oct.

“Well, I said a little prayer about 7:30, and at 7:45 I stood up to stretch my legs and something told me to turn around,” Max Lovertich wrote. “He was standing about 10 steps behind me.”

Rounding out the voting options is “SGT CORN,” who posted a photo of a weird-racked 30-point he killed during a bow hunt in Kentucky.

“I knew there was a mature buck in the area I was hunting,” he said. “Score is still pending, but (it) is possibly the new Kentucky state archery record for non-typical.”

The third choice, titled “WIDE LOAD,” was submitted by user “Dick Cox,” and shows an extremely wide 11-point that was photographed in Warren County.
