Temporary closure of cabins at Clarkco State Park

The Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks announced another major renovation project for Mississippi State Parks. Starting Tuesday, Sept. 5, 2023, Clarkco State Park will be closing six cabins in addition to the lodge and office for renovations.

This closure is in addition to full campsite closures at Percy Quin, Paul B. Johnson, and Roosevelt State Parks and aims to enhance the visitor experience by improving the facilities and accommodations within the park.

Despite the temporary closures, Clarkco State Park will be welcoming guests to stay at nine cabins and three duplexes. The office will still be open for visitors to check-in. In addition to overnight accommodations, the park’s day use is still available and open for exploration. Take a scenic hike on Clarkco’s nature trail or experience the challenge of our disc golf course. Unwind at one of the 60 picnic sites encircling Clarkco Lake, equipped with tables, barbecue grills, and plenty of shade. The three large pavilions are still open for reservations. The fun does not stop there – they also have a playground, softball and baseball field, two tennis courts, and splash pad (open daily 10 a.m.- 5p.m.) Clarkco lake offers 65 acres of freshwater fishing and other water sports, as well as a boat launch. During renovations, day-use bathrooms will remain open, ensuring a comfortable visit for all our valued guests.

The closures are expected to last up to one year. Guests will still be able to make reservations during the closure time.

To minimize any inconvenience caused by the closure, all guests with affected reservations will be contacted via call or email by Mississippi State Parks.

These projects are a major step in the MDWFP improvement plan.
