Chapin killed the 9-point in his photo in Hinds County. The animal weighed 225 pounds, and grossed out at 140 inches Pope & Young.

“It’s my first P&Y buck,” Chapin wrote.

Davis’ buck came off of Mahanna Wildlife Management area, and grossed 131 inches.

“At 7:45 (a.m.) this guy comes running out of now where, running circles around me. WHy? I am not sure.” Davis wrote. “He runs into a small thicket … 40 yards out in front of me and whips around to come out. I bleated at him to get him slow down. As soon as I did, he slowed just enough to look in my direction and I let the arrow go at 37yds.

“The arrow found its mark and the beautiful buck ran about 70yds and laid down.”

In the Trail Cam Contest, the three images in the voting session were taken by Patrick Simmons (psimmons), Claude Hosey (Claude H.) and James Spears (JAMESSPEARS).

Simmons’ “rabbit cat” shows a bobcat dragging a rabbit that is almost a large as the cat down a log.

Hosey’s “Walker” illustrates just how much timing plays a part of hunting.

“This picture was taken an hour before I got there,” Hosey said of the big 8-point on the camera. “It was the first picture I got of him.”

Spears’ image is titled “Big Smokey,” and shows a really great deer sneaking into a feed station.
