Tips to hunting late-season mallards from former Stuttgart guide

Mallards are very smart by the end of the season, but limits are still possible by thinking a little differently.

Decades of wading the flooded timber surrounding Stuttgart, Ark., has provided Randy Lee with indepth insights into how mallards think. And that means he’s even figured out ways to bring in educated birds in the late season while many hunters are struggling.

The former hunting guide shared his thoughts with during a recent hunt with Ducks Unlimited’s Jerry Holden Jr. and MS-Sportsman.com staff.

“Late in the season in this timber, the ducks will get decoy shy, they’ll get hole shy and, especially, they will start flaring off of these spinning ducks …,” Lee said.

Watch the video below to learn how Lee continues to kill limits of mallards when things get tough down the stretch of the season.
