Frierson wins March edition of online Big Bass Contest

Eli Frierson caught this Pearl River lunker in March, and earned a Sportsman prize package for entering the photo in the Big Bass Contest.

MS-Sportsman user Eli Frierson won the March installment of the Big Bass Contest with a photo of him holding a Pearl River monster he estimated would weigh more than 10 pounds.

Frierson, who goes by his real name in the reports forum, will receive a $15 gift coupon to the online Sportsman Outdoor Store and a one-year complimentary subscription to Mississippi Sportsman magazine.

Frierson’s bucketmouth was landed in early March on a Zoom Vibra Craw, he explained.

“(She) and the male were both on a bed in less than 2 feet of water,” he wrote in his entry. “I knew she was a good fish, but didn’t realize just how big (until) I caught the male, which was pushing 4 pounds.

“Knowing she was approximately three times the size of him only got my heart racing faster.”

The big sow was caught shortly thereafter. Frierson took the photo and released the fish.

Andrew Gordon ( aka “skeeterzx185”) placed second in the monthly contest with a photo of a 9-pounder he caught in a Lowndes County farm pond.

Dan Roberts (“DanRoberts” in the forum) placed third with a big Turkey Fork Reservoir hawg landed on a frog.

Entries will be accepted in the contest through April 30, with voting for the April winner to be held the first week of May. However, only registered members of MS-Sportsman.com are eligible for the contest.

The three monthly contest winners will then be placed in a final-round voting session, in which the overall winner will receive a Shimano Caenan 100 reel.
