The Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks is offering assistance to municipal, county and other government entities to develop or improve recreational boating access facilities on public lakes and rivers.

New developments or repairs/improvements to existing facilities including boat launching ramps, courtesy piers, restrooms, parking lots and fish-cleaning stations/pavilions are eligible.

Eligible projects will be reimbursed 75 percent of construction cost.

The State Boating Access Program receives funding generated by the Federal Sport Fish Restoration Act. Funds for this program are derived from the federal gasoline tax generated by sales of gasoline for recreational motorboats and a federal excise tax on the sales of fishing tackle and trolling motors.
