Two record fish landed in May

Stacy Combs of D'Iberville landed this 92-pound, 2.88-ounce big-eye tuna to make the Mississippi fishing records.

Big-eye tuna, creolefish make official Mississippi fishing records list.

Saltwater fishing records for bigeye tuna and creolefish were certified Tuesday (June 21) as state records by the Commisssion on Marine Resources. Both record-breaking catches were made last month.

The bigeye tuna record was set by D’Iberville’s Stacy Combs with a 92-pound, 2.88-ounce fish Combs landed on May 11.

Cecily O’Brien of Pascagoula set the record with a 1-pound, 8.69-ounce Creolefish on May 8, 2011.

These records will be added to the Mississippi Official Saltwater Conventional Tackle Records.
