Kayaker was one of two who went missing Feb. 27; one paddler’s body found on Feb. 28.
A body recovered today just more than 4 miles south of Biloxi beach could be that of a kayaker missing since Feb. 27, the Mississippi Department of Marine Resources said today.
A fishing charter captain called MDMR’s Marine Patrol at 1:10 p.m. today to report a body floating in the Mississippi Sound, the agency reported.The body of a young, white male matching the description of the missing kayaker was recovered at 1:37 p.m., the MDWMR said.
However, identification was pending.
Marine Patrol began a search-and-rescue mission on Feb. 27 for two missing kayakers who launched from Ocean Springs Harbor. The body of one of the kayakers, Kenneth Rainer, 57, was recovered near the Biloxi east channel on Feb. 28.
Marine Patrol has continued 24-hour patrols of the area in search of missing kayaker Nick Rainer, 22.
