Three-day apprentice hunting and fishing licenses now offered

Introduce someone to the outdoor sports with a new &7 apprentice license.

MDWFP provides opportunity for new outdoorsman to try sport for only $7.

It’s not easier than ever to introduce someone to hunting and fishing with the introduction of a three-day apprentice sportsman license, the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks announced today.

The license, which is offered for Mississippi residents only, costs only $7. Hunter education certification is not required.

Included in the license are all-game hunting and fishing, fall and spring turkey hunting, and archery/primitive weapon privileges, the MDWFP said

An apprentice license may be issued to a resident over the age of 15 who does not have the required certificate of hunter education.

An apprentice hunting license may be issued only one time, and the licensee must be accompanied by a licensed or exempt resident hunter at least 21 years of age.

Licenses can be purchased online, by calling 800.5GO.HUNT or by visiting any of the 450 MDWFP agent locations throughout the state.

The MDWFP also offers annual apprentice licenses for residents including the apprentice sportsman license, the apprentice all-game license and the apprentice small-game license.
