Mississippi Coastal Cleanup nets 2,064 bags of trash

Nearly 3,000 volunteers picked up 2,064 bags of trash along 158 miles of the Mississippi coast on Saturday (Oct. 15) as part of the 23rd Mississippi Coastal Cleanup, the Division of Marine Resources announced.

New commercial-fishing regs proposed

The Commission on Mississippi Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks has issued a public notice of intent that would require anyone selling crawfish caught from Mississippi public waters to obtain a commercial fishing license.

The new regulations also provide special permits to remove aquatic nuisance species and targets Asian carp and gar. These are only a few of the changes projected for these statewide regulations.
