Rush to the Brush

The rod tip bobbled ever so slightly. The guide barely spoke “wait.” The action was playing out faster than my brain could calculate it all. Then beyond the bobble, the tip jerked straight down as I flipped the cork grip upward in an automatic reaction. […]

Former Elite Series pro Mark Tucker wins Central Open, takes first 2012 Bassmaster Classic slot

Mark Tucker must have felt some sense of redemption.

After plying his fishing skills on the Elite Series for the past 10 years, he opted out of an 11th season at the 11th hour, choosing instead to give the Opens a try.

Vicksburg fisherman lands 327-pound alligator gar

When Kenny Williams of Vicksburg set out on Valentine’s Day to run his nets on Chotard Lake in Issaquena County, he had no idea he would be landing one sweetheart of an alligator gar. In fact, an alligator gar was the last fish Williams wanted to find in his gill nets; not only can these ancient giants destroy expensive commercial nets, but they also wreak havoc on the buffalo Williams makes his living catching.
