10 Tenn-Tom locks and dams

Brothers Joey and Jerry Pounders grew up along the Tenn-Tom and have had great success in catfishing tournaments held in its waters.

The Tenn-Tom waterway is composed of 10 locks, which are stretch from north to south along the waterway:

• Jamie Whitten Lock and Dam (formerly named Bay Springs Lock and Dam) impounds Bay Springs Lake.

• G. V. Montgomery Lock (formerly named Lock E)

• John Rankin Lock (formerly named Lock D)

• Fulton Lock (formerly Lock C) in Fulton, Miss.

• Glover Wilkins Lock (formerly Lock B) in Smithville, Miss.

• Amory Lock (formerly Lock A) in Amory, Miss.

• Aberdeen Lock and Dam in Aberdeen, Miss., impounds Aberdeen Lake.

• John C. Stennis Lock and Dam (formerly Columbus Lock and Dam) impounds Columbus Lake.

• Tom Bevill Lock and Dam (formerly Aliceville Lock and Dam in Alabama) impounds Aliceville Lake, which begins in Mississippi.

• Howell Heflin Lock and Dam (formerly Gainesville Lock and Dam) in Alabama impounds Gainesville Lake.
