MS-Sportsman.com users named the winners of the Big Bass and Turkey Photo & Video contests over the weekend. Each winner will receive an Official Sportsman package.
The Sportsman package includes a $25 Outdoor Store coupon and a free one-year subscription to Mississippi Sportsman magazine.
In addition, Big Bass Photo Contest winner Jared Hester earned a bonus: A Shimano Caenan 100 reel valued at $90 donated by Shimano.
Hester (who goes by the screen name ‘jhester’ on the MS-Sportsman.com reports forum) earned the win in the Big Bass Contest with a photo of an 11-pounder he landed while fishing a Lamar County farm pond.
“I … found the big bass still on their beds,” he said. “I caught 12 bass, all over 3 pounds. What an amazing afternoon! I think it had a lot to do with my lucky Mississippi Sportsman Shirt. LOL!”
User Mark McPhail (aka “M.Mc.”) came in second with his photo of a big Covington County bass caught iat a private farm pond.
In the Turkey Photo Contest, Austin Newell (aka “Austin P.”) earned the win for his photo titled “Typical Two Year Old.” The big Kemper County gobbler in the photo sported a 9-inch beard and ¾-inch spurs.
In second was Michael Pullen (aka “Darren2”), who posted a photo titled “Arianna’s first turkey” featuring a bird with a 9-inch beard and 1-inch spurs.
“Glock21” (also known as Mike Dantone) was third with a photo of a big Carroll County tom with a 10-inch beard and 1-inch spurs.

In the Turkey Video Contest, user Scott Owens (aka “Scout Pro”) took the top prize for his vid titled “Liberty Awakenings.”
A close second was Brandon Brown (“Brandon019”) with “Chris’s Turkey.”
