The Ranger 2510 Bay is the latest addition to the company’s bay boat line, and it is the biggest and the baddest thus far.
This boat is made for inshore anglers who also like to fish the big water and nearshore fishermen who like to slip into the backwaters.
But it is more than just a big bay boat with extended range: It was built with fishing in mind, and can tackle the shallows or chase kings and tarpon in the nearshore ocean.
Fishability aptly describes the attitude and layout of the 2510. This begins with a lighted 40-gallon baitwell under the leaning post and continues with a massive front deck to accommodate multiple anglers that has a built-in space to flush-mount electronics.
There is room for the right rod and reel for anything you might encounter with under-gunwale rod storage, plus vertical rod holders on the leaning post and transom, and multiple rod holders along the gunwale.
More rod storage is under the forward deck both port and starboard, with Ranger’s patent-pending, lockable Power Ventilation Rod Storage System that circulates air through the boxes to help keep tackle dry. And there’s room for rods as long as 9 feet, 6 inches.
Some fishermen might feel the 13-inch draft and 92 gallons of fuel don’t mix, but Ranger has it working together in a nicely balanced package.
The 2510 includes a couple of extra inches of freeboard in case the ocean gets choppy and the fishing is too good to quit.
The 2510 comes with everything standard except the fish; you still have to catch them yourself. However, there is a huge 320 quart fish box in the middle of the bow that should hold limits of just about anything and a 120-quart insulated cooler that keeps food and drink separate while doubling as a step to the casting platform.
The layout and design of the 2510 Bay Ranger make it an extremely versatile fishing platform. It includes everything needed for fishing inshore or nearshore, and comes in a package with superior range that also has serious shallow-water capabilities.
