Pearl River alligator hunt postponed for two weeks

The first segment of the Pearl River alligator hunt has been postponed because of hazardous river conditions, the MDWFP said.

All other alligator hunting dates remains the same, the MDWFP says.

The scheduled alligator hunt in the Pearl River zone has been postponed for two weeks due to “hazardous conditions: on the river, the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks announced today (Sept. 8). The hunt, originally slated for this weekend, will take place on Sept. 23-24, the MDWFP said.

Alligator possession permits that have been or will be purchased by permitted hunters for the Sept. 9-10 Pearl River Zone will remain valid for the new dates.

The Pearl River hunts scheduled for Sept. 16-17 will occur as scheduled, the agency said.

Also, there has been no change in the Sept. 23-24 and Sept. 30-Oct. 1 hunts in the Pascagoula zone.
