Feds extend red snapper fishing

Red snapper season has been extended for six days because of rough seas that have prevented anglers from reaching the offshore fishing grounds, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration announced today (June 29). The season is now set to close at 12:01 a.m. on July 17, NOAA said.

Bring the little ones to Katfishin’ Kids this Saturday

What better way to celebrate the start of summer than with some free fun? Make plans to attend Katfishin’ Kids this Saturday, June 2, from 7 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. at the Turcotte Lab off Highway 43 at the Ross Barnett Reservoir.

This event is free to all and no equipment is needed. Bring the kids, 15 and under, for a fun-filled day where they can learn the basics of fishing. Pass Christian artificial fishing reef completed

The Mississippi Department of Marine Resources has completed the so-called Pass Christian Key, an artificial reef built from material from the old Bay St. Louis Washington Street Pier, the agency reported today (Dec. 21).

The “key” is located just more than a half mile south of the beach and a mile east of the Pass Christian Harbor, the MDMR said. […]
